Our fortnightly newsletter will feature either a company or individual who is doing things differently within the workplace or at home to help make the transition to motherhood a positive experience. Here at Bumps and the Boardroom, we want to reframe the way maternity leave is perceived and believe that pregnancy, maternity leave and motherhood is an asset for companies, mothers and fathers.
We want to see a new normal where pregnancy is valued for the transformational experience it is for the collective benefit of women, men and business.
Bumps and the Boardroom Founder Lisa Barnwell has spent 14 years working closely as a maternity coach and therapist with over 2000 high-potential women on their transition to motherhood and in doing so has come to realise the correlation between having a baby and being successful in business. By challenging and reframing the belief that pregnancy provides business with a bundle of problems to solve and maternity leave is a drain on company resources, she’s proved women, men and business can thrive when the experience of pregnancy and new motherhood is viewed and managed differently.
We want to see a virtual wall of stories that women and men of all ages can be inspired by – to show a new business normal that values profit, personal happiness and sustainability in equal measure. Showcasing how pregnancy can be a gift for all.
We already have quite a few up our sleeves who will feature in the coming weeks but we want to meet more of you. So get in touch!
We are also looking for women who have stories to share about how they have unlocked the value to be found during the pregnancy journey and transition to motherhood. Has your partner shared your maternity leave so you could return to work sooner? Or is your partner like this superstar Dad who has a brilliant view that helps him to be the best father his children could ask for.
Here at Bumps and the Boardroom we have enabled flexible and agile working to accommodate all our employees. The Bumps and the Boardroom team is small but dedicated and each of us has a clear objective. As long as our targets and deadlines are met, it doesn’t matter the hours we keep or where we produce our work. Like any good team, communication is key and so we use the technological advances of the 21st century to hold face-to-face meetings, share documents and ideas without often being in the same room. Not all of us are mothers but each one of us prioritises both our personal and professional needs, which makes us a happy and efficient team who are committed to making pregnancy and maternity a positive experience for all.
We cannot wait to hear from you and share all the positive practices we uncover. Please email lisa@bumpsandtheboardroom.com with your stories and insights.
