READY: completely prepared or in fit and suitable condition for immediate action or use.
Hello, I’m Lisa Barnwell and this is what I can help you with.
When I was asked the question recently – What transformation do you bring to your clients? – to be honest, I was a bit stumped. I have been working with clients having babies and trying to conceive some time now – nearly 14 years, with lots of evolutions along the way – but haven’t ever really thought of my work as transformational.
It sounds a bit grandiose, a bit highfalutin and well a bit too lofty for lil’ ol me!
But when I really started to think about it, reallyread and connected with the genuine and amazingly heartfelt client testimonials I have been blessed with receiving, and thought of what my clients say to me about the difference I make in how they feel, I realise this is what I do.
I create a safe, non-judgemental space where you can be relaxed, calm and feel completely supported to let go of all the preconceptions of how you think you “should” feeland explore how you truly do feel, about having your baby.
You may be trying to conceive, already pregnancy, literally about to give birth or already be a mum with a newborn baby in your arms. Wherever you are in your pregnancy journey, you may not feel READY for where you are and what lies ahead. That’s ok!
I can hep you change that.
To move from feeling afraid to feeling calm and strong.
From feeling anxious, tired and overwhelmed to feeling centred, focused and happy.
To feeling torn between your goals and your truest desires and not knowing how to marry the two.
From not knowing which way is up after your baby arrives and not recognising You anymore, to feeling blissfully content and in love with your baby and new life more than you ever thought possible.
I won’t teach you how to breastfeed, tell you which buggy is the best on the market for urban terrain, how to baby-proof your Yacht (yes it happens) and whether natural birth or Caesarean is the right way to go. Although I am well educated enough to give you my insight and refer you to other professionals who specialise in these areas if this is appropriate or needed.
What I will sharewith you are relevant, relatable aspects of the experiences of hundreds of career-focused, successful and smart women I have supported (maintaining their privacy and confidentiality of course.
I will talk to you honestly about my professional experiences of breast vs. bottle, having a night nanny or maternity nurse and the value of getting enough sleep whenever you can, alongside the myriad of issues that may be concerning you.
I understand the corporate structure, world of Finance and Law and the type of women who choses to work in this environment; and the transition process from career women to mother and back to the workplace.
I will share the benefits as I’ve seen them. Around private antenatal care vs NHS and any, many other issues you may wish to explore so that your intuition and inner compass becomes more in-tune with the new, more emotionally-based, instinctive decisions you will have to make.
We will celebrate the expansion of your right-brain, heart-centred, creative abilities and not mourn the (temporarily) slowing pace of your left!
We will probably also talk occasionally about Millionaire Matchmaker, my absolute guilty pleasure), Mad Men and The Good Wife. It’s good to lighten up!
We may discuss how celebrity mummies can sometimes have such a negative and impossibly difficult impact on the corporate working and new mum-to-be or the debate that still goes on about Gina Ford’s Contented Baby Book vs the Baby Whisperer.
We will most certainly discuss Lean In; Daring Greatly and Thrive. Sheryl Sandberg, Brene Brown and Arianna Huffington are wise women.
And I will share with you the benefits I am gaining from “on-the-go meditation” and Yoga.
I am not here to provide all the answers but to hold a space where you can find them. “In the quiet lies the answers to all our questions”.
I will stop your shoulders living around your ears and open up your chest area (figuratively not literally, I’m pretty squeamish..) so you can b-r-e-a-t-h-e more easily and sleep more soundly. Before nature or your little one calls.
I won’t tell you that you can have it all.
That after your baby arrives no compromises will have to be made.
But I will give you some very real options and solutions so that it doesn’t feel compromising. You will feel that becoming a mother is the best gift ever – but that you still matter too.
I know that this is what I can offer you and it is a privilege and joy to do so!
I know that I will make a difference in your life in ways that neither you or I can totally predict and that it will be fun, enjoyable, worth every penny and you will continue to receive the value long after our sessions have ended. “The highlight of my week” is one of my favourite new mum recent “Thank-You’s”.
I also know that I am ready to reach out and connect directly with Corporate HR’s and Head’s of Diversity. Women on Boards who are making a difference. Chairmen and Chief Executives who are changing the way the maternity transition is managed. Networking groups of women who are passionate about real change and supporting the sustainable pipeline of strong female talent within the workplace.
90% of my clients work in the City, predominantly in Finance and Law, and have had to find me through their Private Consultants, advertising and word of mouth.
I love to work alongside Maternity Coaches whose work I respect and support but I believe I bring something unique to the party because we are by definition, all unique.
My clients tell me I bring a new angle, a new perspective and as a result we achieve a more holistic, honest and authentically different result.
Therapies and treatments in your own home allow the boundaries to come down quicker and your truths to be revealed more easily.
And why am I soooo super confident and clear this is what I was born to do?
Because I believe I have been getting ready to have my own baby and taking the steps to feel as mentally, physically and emotionally prepared to create a life for another, that I possibly can do. And now I feel ready for that.
I have gone through the biggest transformation of my life in the last few years and believe I now know what it takes, to feel really READY for the next phase.
Yes I am nervous/excited and have all sorts of emotions and thoughts racing around my head and body – but I also feel more secure, strong and grounded, than ever before.
I’m here and I’m excited.
I know the tools and the techniques that have really shifted things for me and I constantly work and connect with the worlds leading Thought Leaders, Entrepreneurs and Soul Sisters to bring something new to pregnancy and motherhood. Old wisdom meets modern world.
This was just something I realised recently and so I wanted to acknowledge it and share it. Loudly and proudly. Thank you internet for giving me the power to do that!
Oh, and just as a Footnote: Ready does not mean perfect. It does not mean it will always feel easy. Change often brings resistance – initially, even if we want it. But by focusing on and giving attention to feeling READY it means you are present, open and free to embrace the next stage of your life and enJoy it! Hope that sounds good to you? Let me know.
