Don’t Keep Calm – Get Excited!

I am so over most of the Keep Calm and … signs everywhere.

They were kindof cool last year during the Golden Jubilee and the odd one can have an inspiring twist but generally they just seem a bit, well, old hat.

So I was delighted to come across “The 4 Bedrock Habits of Highly Confident Women” on the OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network) with it’s first share being women who are super confident “..Actually Don’t Keep Calm and Carry On”.

It turns out the symptoms or signs of excitement are far more similar to nerves so instead of suppressing and trying to project outer calm, embrace the butterflies and get a little giddy! Those who were told to feel more excited “felt more excited, more confident and were able to more naturally shift their focus on the positive opportunities in the upcoming task.”

Sounds good to me.

So instead of those old hat “Keep calm..” signs everywhere, Alison Wood Brooks, A Harvard Business School professor and researcher suggests signs of “Get excited and succeed!”.

See here to read the full article.

Oh, and there’s a bonus video attached to the bottom of the article sharing the secrets to staying younger include lots of sex and broccoli. Worth a watch!
