As men and women we possess both masculine and feminine qualities and are affected by both of these universal energies. During pregnancy, this can shift internally so you can feel more aligned with your feminine energy, although what is happening in the skies can have a profound effect on how you feel.
The Summer Solstice ten days ago marks a time it is said, when the Sun takes a pause, holds for perhaps the briefest moment before it continues to move forward.
In this space there is time to reflect on what has taken place in the past, to consider what has not been working and to set new intentions for our future. Our masculine “doing” energy can take a break and realign.
The Moon which brings the balancing feminine “being” energy has it’s own cycle.
The New Moon which moved into Cancer on June 27 marks the beginning of another fresh start and the optimum time to set intentions for what you wish to manifest in your life.
I am feeling that really strongly right now.
The astrological sign of Cancer suggests tuning into the Sacred or Divine Feminine quality/energy including the Inner Mother Archetype. It may provide space for nourishing yourself where you feel drained or exhausted now. If there was ever a time that supported the work I do it’s this month but I realise I also need to take care of me too.
Personally I have suddenly felt unusually tired.
On the week-end I slept in both mornings until close to 11am and Monday afternoon fell asleep listening to something which turned into a nap lasting more than 2 hours. I do love my rest (I gave a big high five to Arianna Huffington’s advice to get more sleep) but this seemed a bit extreme.
Whether you connect in with this or find it all a load of baloney I can personally notice my energy shifting and softening.
Last month the New Moon moved into Gemini, requiring us to step up in our vibration and stand in our truth.
Work on increasing your communication skills. Listen more and talk less. Align with your core values. Live your life from your authentic self, inside out was the advice I recently read.
Interesting it was the month I instinctively chose to hold my first online event, Bumps and the Boardroom.
I have long felt connected to the Sun and Moon energy. Some days or weeks I feel very introverted and love staying home writing, thinking and creating. Other times I am a bundle of bouncing energy, bright eyed and bushy tailed, full of action, power and making things happen.
Working for myself I have learnt to “tune in” to this and TRUST the ebb and flow of my energy but if you work in a corporate, male dominated environment it can be far harder to embrace this pattern and risk being seen as flaky or over-emotional – by both your male and female colleagues. Some women still believe the way to get ahead is to channel their more masculine attributes but this does seem to be changing.
Traditionally we have seen showing our emotions as weak and a steady performance as strong – but we are naturally emotional beings and need to honour our feelings. Whether we are in a male or female body. To suppress is to undervalue our intuition, inner knowledge and whole self.
I connect with eating with the seasons, choosing foods which thrive with certain local climate changes rather than whatever appears on the supermarket shelves courtesy of artificial greenhouses or thousands of air miles.
I know my energy is generally better in the Summer than the Winter and I need to be by the water to balance my moods.
Some days I love to walk through the woods, other days it feels claustrophobic and I yearn for an open expanse of grass.
I use aromatherapy to keep me more level. Sometimes it’s uplifting lemon, bergamot or grapefruit I crave. Other times zesty lime or sweet orange with a side of cooling lavender or grounding vetiver.
I can step out the door forgetting to put on makeup but feel completely naked and under dressed without a spritz of perfume from an exquisitely beautiful bottle.
I love my girly candles, fresh cut flowers and clean white walls. Last week I brought more colour into my apartment. My new bright green rug arrives soon.
I worked out I “needed” these things to help my sensitive soul survive and thrive in a man’s world and they are my tool kit of choice. Massage for me is mandatory, Reflexology rejuvenating and Yoga brings out my mellow yellow.
Bathing rituals are definitely “in” this month and connecting with water highly recommended. The element of water knows how to flow, be fertile as well as gentle and caring..
I LOVE being around men and virile male energy but I am now so much stronger in my own power. It took living alone this past year or so to really work out Me.
To nourish my rise and falls and see them as something to be grateful for. I am divinely feminine and that’s ok.
I’m now ready to speak up and encourage other women to embrace the feminine. To really understand their patterns and prowess. To not shy away from feelings but find their hidden benefits and gain support living from a more authentic place. Especially in the workplace. Bumps and the Boardroom was definitely just the start.
I am Woman, hear me roar! I hear You Helen and your words are ringing loudly in my ears. Also loving’ Mystic Mamma‘s insights too.
Let me know your thoughts. Love to hear from you.
