I Love Me!
A simple statement that neatly sums up my personal and business philosophy and desire for both you and me going forward. The obvious choice therefore to use as one of the images on my NEW website!
Just to be clear, I don’t consider myself any of these things:
Self absorbed, Selfish or Egotistical
I do believe I am:
Self-loving, Self-aware of my own needs and wants and have a strong daily focus on taking full responsibility for my own feelings of being happy, whole and complete. I work to support my clients in feeling self- loved, nurtured and happy too.
It hasn’t been the easiest journey and I am sure there are many more twists and turns to come but my mission in life (along with enjoying fabulous friends, beautiful shoes, delicious wine and attracting great love in my life) is to :-
- support women becoming mothers to transition through the process with ease, grace and confidence
- to be the mother and woman they are destined to be
- to know and accept their true complete selves
- to embrace their desires and dreams
- to love themselves wholeheartedly so that they in turn can love and raise children who are kind, happy, bold and brave.
On Monday my new website became live and has been something that I have spent a fair few hours on and am incredibly grateful to the support, patience and expertise of Karen and Steve at JCK Marketing, who really are fabulous at what they do. Thank you both for your commitment and help!
No longer having a clinic base – my choice and one I am very happy with – my website is essentially my “shop window” and I feel this site is the most honest and open I have created.
Whilst it’s a great way to learn about my services and see how I can work with you one-to-one (one of my great loves) I also see it as a platform from which to share my thoughts and ideas to help us all find our happiest selves.
Bottom line: Having a great partner, beautiful baby, lovely home etc is all fine and dandy but if you are not happy and in love/at peace/content/thrilled (add in the terms which sit right with you) with the real you inside, it is very difficult (if not impossible) to feel completely and whole-heartedly fulfilled long term.
I believe and see daily, that motherhood is marvellous in many ways but it also saps your strength and energy whilst you devote and focus so much on a little one so finding the balance of some time for You too, to nourish your own needs, is also a must.
Mummy Mindfulness is the new name for my blog – aka Get Your Daily Happy – for whilst I agree that as a new mum or mum-to-be all the regular pregnancy books are VITAL for the basic step-by-step, how-to and what’s happening in your body info; the information that makes me jump out of bed and want to shout out loud is about Feeling Empowered, Alive and Happy. Feeling Valued. Knowing your Worth and having the Confidence and Creativity to present it to the world to add to its continual Development and Growth.
I believe our thoughts shape our reality so whatever our past or our present if we want our future – and our children’s futures – to be great, we have to start with what we are thinking about today.
I will definitely share what I believe are the real and necessary benefits of :-
- Meditation (still mastering this myself),
- Who and what inspires me aka Women I Admire, Women who Inspire to live a greater life of fulfilment and abundance.
- Yoga moves to stretch and tone simply and easily and bring a little calm into your day or week (I’m a realist and don’t subscribe to the daily must-do’s).
- Tips to boost your energy when you’ve had another sleepless pregnancy or baby-feeding night alongside
- My favourite Inspirational reads books I love to uplift and motivate my heart and soul.
My top 5 currently are Lean In, Raising Happiness, The Big Leap, Daring Greatly and Thrive so it’s no surprise my top 5 Inspirational women includes Sheryl Sandberg, Christine Carter, Brene Brown and Arianna Huffington (Gay Hendricks, as a man you don’t qualify for this list but I love your book none the less!).
I am also loving the no b-s approach of Danielle LaPorte, Gabrielle Bernstein and Patti Stanger, you are my hilarious guilty pleasure! Reviews and message in a nutshell to follow soon because you may not have the time just now to devote to reading an entire library.
And yes, mums making their voices heard in the City and the Boardroom are my passion too as my tele seminar Lisa Barnwell Presents Bumps and the Boardroom, a global conversation on The Pregnancy Advantage for Business will focus on.
Perhaps not what you’d automatically expect from a maternity therapist but as hopefully my Client Love affirms, my treatments are a combination of cheerleader, therapist and best friend to help you feel safe and supported during this special and precious time.
Big love for a great week-end,
